Andover can be traced back as far as 950 AD. It first started as a Saxon village where one of the Kings of Wessex decided to have a hunting lodge called “aet Andefers” built on the edge of the river Anton.
Located in the county of Hampshire, It is near Winchester (famous for King Arthur’s Round Table), Salisbury and Stonehenge and has always been on lines of communication such as the Harrow Way, on the Exeter route by coach.
There are lots of attractions and places to visit. Step back in time with The Andover Museum and the Museum of Iron where you can find out a way of life that was destroyed by the Romans and also the local archaeology and natural history, whilst you get to know everything about eagles, owls in the “Hawk Conservancy”.
Enjoy the visit to the Whitchurch Silk Mill, a working Victorian water mill or perhaps Highclere Castle, the family home of Lord and Lady Carnarvon.
