Ashbourne is located in the Midlands in the county of Derbyshire which is at the southern part of the Pennine Way. The county as a whole is very busy with tourists who adore the great beauty the area has to offer.

Ashbourne as a town is a delightful and mostly Georgian and it nestles itself in the gently sloping valley of Henmore. As a market town it naturally has a market which is usually on Thursdays and Saturdays. The town is surrounded by rural area and fantastic scenery and quaint villages.

Derby is the closest major city and around 15 miles away, and there are many local towns close by worth visiting such as Buxton, Matlock and Leek.

Ashbourne is very much a tourist town, and many travellers stop here at some point when exploring the surrounding local area. As a result the town has many tea rooms, gift shops and local restaurants. For those of you who enjoy the walking, there are also outdoor clothing and equipment shops.

Cycles can be hired locally, and there are many routes to enjoy the views and wonders of the area.

Ashbourne also has lots of historic buildings and alleys to explore, one such building is the church of St Oswald’s which is a 12th / 13th Century building. The dramatic steeple overshadows the whole town and is certainly and impressive view.
