A major museum displaying and interpreting the natural and human history of North Devon and its environs. The museum includes fascinating old collections dating as far back as the museum of the Barnstaple Literary and Scientific Institution founded in 1845 but many of the displayed collections have been assembled over the last 5 years. The museum is the regional museum for the natural history, archaeology and pottery industry of northern Devon. It also features collections of the Royal Devon Yeomanry, houses Tarka Centre and undersea world and the story of North Devon
