About Bideford

Bideford is located in north Devon on the estuary of the River Torridge,

It used to be an important trading centre for tobacco and wool. Nowadays, it is a lovely town to visit but also a market town and a working port especially for fishing industry and also clay export.

The most famous town landmark is the Long Bridge and its 24 arches. It first started as a wooden bridge with a chapel at both sides but was replaced in the 16th century by a stone one that you can see today.

Bideford has still some little streets with small shops but there is now a large outlet shopping mal, Atlantic Village, including more than 35 shops offering substantial discounts together with a Family Adventure Park with live event and entertainment.

For the active visitors, there is the Tarka Trail, a popular North Devon walking and cycling route.

There are a lot to see around Bideford and Appledore, Instow and Clovelly but also Great Torrington and the Dartington Glass Factory will delight you in their own right.
