About Cirencester

Cirencester is the largest town in the Costwold District,93 miles from London and lies on the River Churn.

Named Corinium in the Roman time, it was the second city in Britannia, and you can still see evidence with attractions such as the Roman Amphitheatre in the nearby Chedworth Roman Villa and the Corinium Museum which will inform you on the local history and exhibits Roman remains including large mosaics and reconstruction of the Roman-British life. Cirencester also offers historic mosaics located near the Brewery Arts Centre.
The Brewery Arts Centre or the Cirencester Park are amongst the other attractions and few miles away the Costwold Wildlife Park in Burford and the Keynes Country Park.

Discover the Roman Catholic Church of St Peter’s in the market square. The tower begun in the 15th century. Some wealthy wool merchants added some chapels and some are commemorated in brasses.
