Huddersfield goes back to Castle Hill (which dominates its skyline) as an Iron Age Fort and Norman Castle was found there.

Huddersfield’s reputation and fast growing development was centered around the textile industry and some woollen are still sent around all over the world. Shopping offers a wide variety of shopping areas, the Kingsgate Centre being the main central shopping area, the market hall (with historic status) and an open market on the opposite side of the town centre.
