About Hull

Kingston upon Hull is more widely known as Hull. It is situated on the north bank of the Humber estuary, on both sides of the river Hull. We can go back to the 12th century for its history as there was a settlement there.

With 18,5% of UK imports, Hull which was a medieval wool port, is nowadays a major national seaport. The M62 motorway is the main access by road and supplies a link to Liverpool, Manchester and leeds.

Also known for its University of Hull (founded in 1927), there is the Hull York Medical School, its grammar school founded in 1486 and we can count over 100 local schools.

Expanding further with completion planned for 2010, Hull already possesses two large shopping centres, the Prospect Centre and Prince’s Quay Shopping Centre. Also, the indoor Trinity Market has around fifty stalls and is located next to the Holy Trinity Church.

You will be spoilt for choice with museums such as Wilberforce House, Hull and East Riding Museum, the Ferens Art Gallery, the Maritime Museum, Streetlife and Transport Museum, the Deep and its medieval part of the city which still retains a number of historic buildings.

Nightlife in Hull is very exciting and attracts many people with its variety of pubs, bars and large nightclubs. Also it has a big variety of places to eat such a local restaurants and cafes bars.
