About Kingsbridge
Kingsbridge is part of the South Hams. An area of oustanding beauty, Kingsbridge lies between Plymouth, Torbay in the East and Dartmoor in the North. The area possesses one the mildest climates of the country. Earlier springs, longer summers, warmer autumns and milder winters makes it a lovely place to visit all year long.
Kingsbrigdge was granted the right to hold a market since 1219 when monks were selling their produces and still continues with the tradition nowadays.
The present town is the combination of two medieval towns, Kingsbridge and Dodbrooke. It is not only a tourist place but a working town where cafes, pubs and restaurants stay open all year round. In July, there is Fair Week and in November the Extravaganza.
The area, meaning “sheltered place” in Anglo-Saxon, offers sixty miles of magnificent coastline and beaches and has remained unchanged for centuries.
Walking, water activities such as sailing surfing, fishing, or riding and golfing are all present for you to enjoy.
In Kingsbridge or its surroundings, you will be able to find a variety of places to stay from countryside camping and carvanning sites to coastal cottages, hotels and B&Bs, suitable for every tastes and budgets.
