About Newbury

Newbury is at least 1100 years old and is very conveniently located less than an hour from London, Oxford, Bristol and the South Coast.

If was famous on the continent in the 15th century for its cloth but by the 17th century the trade had stopped. From a market town, Newbury has changed into a well known cultural centre with theatres, art festivals and orchestras.

There is a wide variety of places to eat and drink and the shopping is quite friendly.

Newbury is proud of its quality racecourse and sporting events.

As for places to visit, Donnington Castle built in the late 14th century is located on the edge of Newbury, or also Highclere Castle 15 minutes away from Newbury is home to the Carnavon Family (who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamen) are highly recommended.
